Jehovah Rohi means “The Lord is my Shepherd.” This is a personal rendition of how we relate to God. He is our keeper, our strong tower and the protective force in our lives. He watches for our safety and protects us from harm. He keeps us in His protective care and calls to us when we are lost. He feeds us and leads us into safety as He keeps us from wandering from the flock. However, He searches for us if we do become lost. The relationship is personal. We know the Shepherd and He know us.
Scriptural Context:
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” Psalm 23
John 10:27 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
Ezekiel 34:14 “ I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD.”
John 10:2-5 “The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”
