Jehovah Mikaddesh

Jehovah M’Kaddesh means “The Lord our Sanctifier” or “The Lord who sanctifies”. Sanctification means to be set apart unto the Lord.  The Lord sanctifies and sets us apart from the world. We are sanctified by the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the Word of God. Jesus asked the Father to “sanctify them through thy Truth, thy Word is Truth (John 17:17).”

Scriptural Context:

Exodus 31:13 “Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it [is] a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that [ye] may know that I [am] the LORD that doth sanctify you.

Exodus 19:6 “And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These [are] the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.” “

John 17:19 “And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.”

1 Thessalonians 5:23 “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Peter 1:15, 16 “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”

1 Peter 2:9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;”
