Anna spent a long time awaiting the birth of Jesus Christ. She was a prophetess who knew that Israel’s redeemer would come (Luke 2:38). After the death of her husband, she made her home in the temple, devoting the rest of her life to God by serving Him with fasting and prayer (v. 37). She became the first person to publicly proclaim that Jesus would be the redeemer. By accepting God’s purpose for her, she was able to see her prayers answered. Significantly, she was reserved a place in history and her story was written in the Bible.
